How long have you been with MMQCI and how did you first learn about our company?
I have been with MMQCI since June 2021. Before MMQCI, I was in charge of design and development of in vitro diagnostics devices, including ELISA and Lateral flow assay. I came across the listing on Indeed while I was searching for positions at biotechnology companies in Maine during the pandemic. Initially, I was slightly concerned about switching my career path, but once I researched MMQCI’s website and got a better understanding of MMQCI’s mission and values, I decided to apply for the position.

What are your primary responsibilities?
As an R&D Scientist II, I am responsible for:

  • On-time delivery of new products from initial design, development and validation to market launch, in accordance to current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) following design control according to FDA 21CFR820, ISO13485 regulations and according to MMQCI’s Quality System.
  • Conducting a wide variety of complex laboratory procedures and analyses using manual molecular biology techniques and instrumentation. Identifying experimental problems and inconsistencies, troubleshooting these problems based on learned knowledge and skills.
  • Designing optimal sequences and engineering complex DNA constructs through the use of public data bases to be used as targets in the development of control products.
  • Developing and maintain documentation of product development and validation according to MMQCI’s Quality System.
  • Establishing, validating, and performing a variety of molecular diagnostic assays used in the development and QC testing of MMQCI products.
  • Training and mentoring other R&D Scientists to assist with all phases of product development and participates in the training of other MMQCI personnel in areas of expertise.
  • Collaborating and working cross-functionally across all departments to participate in the transfer of knowledge, process and procedures for the transfer and launch of products of the highest quality.
  • Collaborating and communicating frequently with key external collaborators/customers to ensure development of products of the highest quality.

What do you like best about MMQCI?
The best part is the opportunity to constantly learn and grow. I'm exposed to new challenges regularly, which helps me develop both professionally and personally.

How would you describe your team?
My team is extremely talented and very supportive which not only boosts productivity but also makes each day enjoyable. The autonomy and trust I receive from my superiors is remarkable. It allows me to take ownership of my projects and find innovative solutions to problems.

What are some of the biggest changes you’ve seen since joining MMQCI?
Growth, not only in square footage, but also in personnel and knowledge.

What has your experience been with our company culture?
I really enjoy the culture at MMQCI. We have a great sense of camaraderie and are super collaborative and supportive of each other. It makes work so much more enjoyable and encourages a more innovative environment.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Reading books, listening to music, spending time with my family.

What’s the most unique part about working at MMQCI?
I enjoy the collaborative environment in MMQCI. In my job, I get to see the direct results of my efforts, which is incredibly rewarding. Witnessing the positive impact of my work on customers is fulfilling. I appreciate the work-life balance that my job offers. It allows me to pursue my passions outside of work and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I was born and raised in Tamil Nadu, India

Who are some of your biggest inspirations, and why?
My Parents and my brother are my inspirations, pillars of strength. My husband who has supported and encouraged me to be the best version of myself to chase my dream.
