Who are some of your biggest inspirations, and why?
I am from Somalia. Seeing women face challenges and doing great things is inspiring. Edna Adan Ismail, a nurse midwife, was the first and only woman Minister in the Government of Somaliland. She played an important role in educating the public about the harmful practice of FGM. Edna was a representative of the WHO for many years. Right after the civil war in Somalia there were no standing buildings. She played an important role in the building of a new hospital after the war. She contributed her own savings and lead donation efforts. To help answer the call for health care workers, she was able to build Edna Aden University, where she taught nursing and worked at the same time. The most exciting part for me was that I was able to meet her in person in the summer of 2021.

What do you like best about MMQCI?
I like that we do care a lot about our work and teammates in every department. We are all happy when we have a new employee and sad to see a coworker leave. I also like how the company cares about giving its employees an opportunity to get to know each other better, like catered breakfast or lunch, and even an annual picnic (with employees’ families, yes!). I also like that we all share in the company’s profit. At MMQCI, it is believed (and very true) that every employee contributes to the company’s success.
How would you describe your team?
Our production team is the strongest team I have ever worked with. We are always busy. We are very organized and very flexible when it comes to shifting priorities. But most of all, we like to help each other and look for ways to improve workflow. For us, it’s always going to be quality over quantity.
